In a recent interview with the Greek ANT1 TV station, Mendoni stated that the Greek Culture Ministry ensures the availability of medical services at several key locations, including the Acropolis, Delphi, Lindos on the island of Rhodes, and Knossos on Crete. The minister’s comments came in response to a question about the absence of an ambulance at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus (Herodion) in Athens when popular Greek singer Marinella recently suffered a brain stroke during her performance. Regarding the recent incident at the Herodion, Mendoni clarified that the ancient theater is state-owned and falls under the purview of the Culture Ministry. However, she noted that when private events are organized at the theater, it is the responsibility of event planners to arrange for the presence of medical personnel. It is noted that the incident involving Marinella, 86, occurred during a privately organized concert. Elaborating on the medical services provided at various Greek sites, Minister Mendoni specifically highlighted the Acropolis. She stated that, in addition to Red Cross volunteers, nurses, doctors, and an ambulance are always on standby, as the monument and its surrounding area attract thousands of visitors daily. She added that from 8 am to 8 pm, during the Acropolis’s public opening hours, these services are available to all visitors. The Organization of Management and Development of Cultural Resources, which is part of the Ministry of Culture, funds these services. “These services are offered with absolute transparency, to serve the people who honor us by visiting our country,” the minister said.
