Photo source: Fraport Greece As part of the World Tourism Day celebrations, Fraport Greece organized, for the second consecutive year, a special culinary event at Thessaloniki Airport “Makedonia”. The initiative was led in partnership with the Region of Central Macedonia, the Municipalities of Thessaloniki and Thermi, and the Thessaloniki Hotels Association. The event took place on Friday, September 27, in the departures area of the airport, before passenger screening, to showcase the award-winning local gastronomy as a key element of the exceptional tourist experience offered by the destination. Photo source: Fraport Greece “The event’s main objective was to highlight local gastronomy as a top experience for visitors of the city, which, together with the unique Greek hospitality, offers unforgettable moments,” said George Vilos, Executive Director of Commercial and Business Development at Fraport Greece. This year’s event has broadened its focus on the rich and abundant culinary heritage of Thessaloniki, which has gained international recognition through its inclusion in UNESCO’s Global Network of Creative Cities of Gastronomy. The city’s three chef ambassadors participated in the event, welcoming departing passengers who had the opportunity to experience the local gastronomy, taking with them a lasting and beautiful memory of the destination. According to the organizers, Fraport Greece and local institutions, aimed to promote Thessaloniki’s rich tourism identity by showcasing its outstanding culinary potential. The event offered passengers a unique experience that combined hospitality with local tradition.
