Japanese travel agents recently had the opportunity to discover the diverse tourism offerings of Central Macedonia during the “Greek Tourism and Gastronomy Workshop” held in Tokyo.

Hosted at the Hotel Gajoen Tokyo, the event, dedicated this year to promoting Central Macedonia, was organized by Tourism Media & Events with the aim of fostering partnerships between Greek companies and Japanese enterprises. A total of 67 Japanese travel agents participated in the workshop.

During the event, Vicky Hatzivasiliou, Deputy Governor of Central Macedonia responsible for Tourism, alongside local officials, showcased the region’s rich tourism experiences to Japanese travel professionals and journalists. Presentations highlighted the region’s cultural heritage, archaeological sites, gastronomy, cruises, and its natural beauty.

Hatzivasiliou emphasized that this was the first time the Region of Central Macedonia directly engaged with the Japanese market through targeted promotional activities. “We highlighted the unique advantages of our region, which align with the philosophy, profile, and specific interests of Japanese travelers,” she said.

“Our goal is to enhance the region’s recognition, and we are working strategically to cultivate the strong interest that the Japanese have in specialized forms of tourism, all while promoting the multidimensional tourism character of Central Macedonia,” Hatzivasiliou added.
