In their 27th edition, the awards are among the most prestigious recognitions in the global travel industry. Winners are determined by the votes of Condé Nast Traveller readers, who are known for their discerning tastes and extensive travel experiences. The awards cover various categories such as hotels, resorts, cities, countries, islands, and airlines, highlighting the best in luxury travel based on reader preferences. Greek hospitality took center stage, placing the country among Europe’s friendliest destinations for the year. In addition, Sani Resort in Halkidiki was ranked among the world’s best resorts, while Grecotel’s The Dolli in Athens was voted one of Europe’s top hotels and Greece’s best in the UK edition of the awards. Greece secured 5th place on the list of Friendliest European Countries. According to the organizers, readers were captivated by the country’s warm hospitality and friendly people. “Once a potent empire, Greece truly feels like a time capsule from the ancient world,” readers’ highlight. “The Acropolis of Athens is its best-known archaeological site, but there are plenty more to discover, like the carved lion statues of offbeat Delos Island or the 16,000-seat theatre of Epidaurus.” Additionally, island-hopping is suggested as a must, with 6,000 Greek islands to choose from.
