Greece made a significant mark in the 2024 Readers’ Choice Awards by Condé Nast Traveller, with Greek islands, hotels, and resorts, along with Athens International Airport (AIA), receiving notable recognition from the audience.

In their 27th edition, the awards are among the most prestigious recognitions in the global travel industry. Winners are determined by the votes of Condé Nast Traveller readers, who are known for their discerning tastes and extensive travel experiences. The awards cover various categories such as hotels, resorts, cities, countries, islands, and airlines, highlighting the best in luxury travel based on reader preferences.

Greek hospitality took center stage, placing the country among Europe’s friendliest destinations for the year. Greece secured 5th place on the list of Friendliest European Countries. According to the organizers, readers were captivated by the country’s warm hospitality and friendly people.

“Once a potent empire, Greece truly feels like a time capsule from the ancient world,” readers’ highlight.

“The Acropolis of Athens is its best-known archaeological site, but there are plenty more to discover, like the carved lion statues of offbeat Delos Island or the 16,000-seat theatre of Epidaurus.”

Additionally, island-hopping is suggested as a must, with 6,000 Greek islands to choose from. Among them Paros, Crete, Skiathos, Rhodes, Zakynthos, Corfu, and Santorini were among the best 20 islands in Europe.

Notably, Athens International Airport ranked 9th at the best airports in the world category, earning 86.58 points.
