Photo source: Skiathos Hoteliers Association The Skiathos Hoteliers Association recently celebrated the conclusion of this summer’s tourism season for the island and looks forward to the upcoming season in 2025. During the event held at the Alkyon Hotel, the association’s president, Akis Tsarouhis, shared his insights on the season’s results for local market professionals and the future of the destination’s tourism product. “There are times when we must look back and assess our achievements. We must celebrate them, as this makes us stronger and enables us to achieve even more,” said Tsarouhis. “This season has been an upward journey. Photo source: Skiathos Hoteliers Association The event included the recognition of three young individuals from Skiathos who participated in a competition focused on innovative ideas for the island’s tourism market and product. Eighteen-year-old Efi Zebeki won first prize in her category for her study on alternative tourist activities suitable for the island. Twenty-two-year-old Dimitris Mitzelos received the top prize for his project titled “Interactive AR Application and Experience,” which aimed at the successful promotion of Skiathos. Additionally, Konstantina Pashali, 20, was awarded first prize in her category for her research on extending the tourist season. According to the association, many young people from the island, aged between 16 and 25, participated in the competition. They researched and analyzed topics they are likely to encounter in their professional careers in the coming years. President Akis Tsarouhis and Petros Dervenis, owner of the Alkyon Hotel, presented the awards to the young winners.
