The Greek Culture Ministry is actively advancing projects to highlight the cultural heritage of the Peloponnese region.

Greek Culture Minister Lina Mendoni recently met with Peloponnese Governor Dimitris Ptochos in Athens to sign several contracts aimed at accelerating various initiatives in the area.

Among these projects is the new archaeological museum of Ancient Messini, which is central to promoting the region’s historical heritage. Additionally, with the construction permit secured for the new Sparta Archaeological Museum, it was agreed that the project will go to tender by December 2024.

“In cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, we are moving forward according to plans, making consistent efforts to finalize projects that not only protect our historical identity but also support the development of local communities,” Governor Ptochos said.

It was also decided to extend renovation works at the Zoodochos Pigi Roitsas Holy Monastery in eastern Mani by twelve months, and an agreement was signed for the preparation of studies for the renovation of the Notara Mansion in Ano Trikala.

According to the governor, these “focused interventions” are strengthening the Peloponnese’s position as a cultural destination while creating new opportunities for tourism and enhancing the local economy.
