Ferries Green Transition in Coastal Shipping a Priority for Greek Ministry by GTP editing team 15 October 2024 written by GTP editing team 15 October 2024 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 27 The green transition of coastal shipping is a key focus of the development policy of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, according to minister Christos Stylianidis. Recently, the Greek Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy held discussions with representatives from various professional organizations, concentrating on the green transition of coastal vessels in Greece. Stylianidis’ meetings with representatives of the Association of Passenger Shipping Companies (SEEN), the Association of Speedboat and Cruise Shipowners (SETAK), and other independent entities follow the early September announcement of a Public Private Partnership (PPP) project titled “Consultant for the Pre-feasibility Study for a Green Ferries PPP.” During these discussions, Minister Stylianidis provided updates on the specific project, which aims to modernize the fleet serving Greece’s remote island lines (known as agones grammes) with vessels utilizing green technology.
