Food and Travel magazine is the world’s leading gastronomy travel title with a 25-year heritage, transporting readers on a culinary voyage with every issue. “Hosting Food & Travel magazine is a significant step in our efforts to promote Lassithi and Crete as destinations of exceptional culinary value,” said Michalis Klontzas, Regional Tourism Councilor. A trip filled with flavors Photo source: Crete Region Ierapetra, Agios Nikolaos and Sitia were among the areas visited by the press delegation during their island tour. Staying at local hotels, the journalists experienced authentic Greek hospitality before setting off for their daily tours and activities. While traveling through Lassithi’s villages, they connected with the philosophy of Cretan gastronomy by engaging with local producers, as human interaction is central to Cretan culture. Local professionals introduced them to the secrets of production and the mastery of the island’s cuisine, showcasing recipes made with fresh ingredients. These memories will feature in a special tribute to Crete and Lassithi’s culinary traditions, set to be published in “Food & Travel” magazine, highlighting moments from the trip filled with flavors and aromas. “Journalists expressed their enthusiasm for the flavors, gastronomy, local products, and most of all, the people of our region,” said Ioannis Androulakis, Vice Regional Governor. “The development framework we are building through collaboration and collective effort is promoted globally with targeted actions, enhancing the international visibility of Crete and Lassithi as a unified destination,” he added.
