Hellenic Chamber of Hotels (HCH) President Alexandros Vassilikos has been re-elected president of HOTREC, the umbrella association for Hotels, Restaurants, & Cafes in Europe.

During HOTREC’s 89th General Assembly in Warsaw, Poland, Vassilikos was voted in for a second two-year term, following his initial election in 2022.

“Amid great challenges and change, being re-elected as HOTREC President is both an honor and a responsibility,” Vassilikos said after his re-election. “I thank my European colleagues for their trust and confidence.”

HOTREC represents 47 national associations from 36 European countries, encompassing over 1.8 million businesses and employing more than 9 million people.

“Every day, in Brussels, we shape the future framework of European and Greek tourism, addressing critical issues such as securing financial resources, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in their transition to sustainability and digitalization, regulating online travel agency platforms, and combating unfair practices against hotels,” Vassilikos continued.

“Our collective duty is to ensure that European policymakers fully recognize the hospitality industry’s role in preserving the European way of life, fostering development, and promoting social cohesion. This effort ultimately supports job creation, career opportunities for youth and vulnerable groups, and the overall welfare of all Europeans,” he concluded.

Born in Athens in 1976, Vassilikos was elected as HCH President in 2017 after serving as vice president and president of the Athens-Attica & Argosaronic Hotel Association. He joined HOTREC’s executive committee in 2018 and was re-elected in 2020, and he was re-elected as HCH President in 2021.

Vassilikos is also the chairman and CEO of AIROTEL Group of Hotels, which operates six hotels in Athens, Patra, and Kavala.
