For 61 years, the TTG Travel Experience has been a global hub for tourism operators, offering insights into new trends, innovations, and inspirations. The 2024 exhibition, themed “The Year of Veritas”, featured 2,700 exhibitor brands, 1,000 international buyers, 55 start-ups, and 683 journalists from Italy and beyond. “Halkidiki has gained significant traction in the Italian market and in recent years has attracted strong interest from tour operators, travel agencies, airlines, and journalists,” officials stated, reaffirming the ongoing enthusiasm of Italians for the destination as seen in previous fairs. Halkidiki Tourism Organization achieves three key goals Photo source: HTO In partnership with the Central Macedonia Region, the Halkidiki Tourism Organization (HTO) participated in the fair with three primary goals to promote the peninsula to the Italian market. More specifically, the HTO formalized an agreement with the Region of Tuscany and Toscana Promozione Turistica to facilitate the exchange of tourism educational seminars. At the Rimini exhibition, HTO General Director George Broutzas and the board’s marketing and PR manager for Italy Eleni Sarikosta met with Patrick Colgan, editor of the Touring Club travel guide, and journalist Letizia Gamberini. Officials noted that these efforts lay the groundwork for showcasing Halkidiki at Touring Club offices across Italy. On the sidelines of the event, HTO partnered with Italy’s national television channel Rai for a special production aimed at promoting Halkidiki to the Italian audience. The next stops in the tourism board’s communication campaign for Italy and Switzerland in 2024-2025 include the BIT Milano Borsa Del Turismo Internazionale fair in February 2025, featuring workshops and specialized family and press trips.
