Photo source: MITSIS The historic Mitsis Grand Hotel on Rhodes is embarking on an 80-million-euro transformation to become a year-round luxury tourism destination. As one of the largest development projects for the Mitsis Hotels Group on the island, the investment is set to create significant opportunities for the local community and economy. The project involves collaboration with renowned architectural firms WATG and ROAM Interior Design. “The Mitsis Grand Hotel project is one of the most strategic investments in our Group’s history and a milestone for Rhodes’ growth as a premier tourism destination,” said Mitsis Hotels CEO Stavros Mitsis at an official event on Friday where the extensive renovation plans were revealed. Photo source: Mitsis Slated for reopening in 2026, the hotel will offer luxurious private residences and suites, a world-class spa, a diverse culinary market, and an exclusive retail mall with high-end boutiques. A cutting-edge recording studio will also provide a unique space for artists and creatives. “Our vision is to establish the hotel as an iconic destination that celebrates culture, sustainable development, and the well-being of the local community,” Mitsis noted. Photo source: Mitsis The complete redevelopment, scheduled to begin in autumn 2024 and conclude in 2026, will elevate the Mitsis Grand Hotel into a high-end, year-round luxury tourism destination. According to the management of the Mitsis Grand Hotel, the project will preserve the hotel’s historic identity while positioning it firmly within the upscale tourism market. Photo source: Mitsis Key project highlights include: – Comprehensive renovation of all rooms and suites. – Construction of private residences available for sale and rental. – Development of a Food Hall with over 10 outlets offering international and Greek cuisine. – Creation of a luxury shopping center featuring a variety of retail stores. – Establishment of art spaces in partnership with global galleries. – Introduction of traditional arts workshops. – Addition of sports facilities, including a 1,000 sq.m. gym, tennis courts, and padel courts. – Development of a 1,000 sq.m. modern spa. – Diverse venue options for social and cultural events. Photo source: Mitsis Upcoming investments and expansions by Mitsis Group The Mitsis Group has outlined a broader investment strategy for 2024-2028, with projects surpassing 250 million euros. This includes the Mitsis Grand Hotel renovation, as well as plans for new hotels, complete renovations of existing properties, and management of additional hotels in key destinations such as Rhodes, Halkidiki, and Athens. These efforts aim to expand the Group’s presence across Greece. The event marking the announcement of the Mitsis Grand Hotel’s revamp was attended by prominent figures, including Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni, Greek Deputy Minister of Development Zoe Rapti, South Aegean Region Governor Giorgos Hatzimarkos, Rhodes Mayor Alexandros Koliadis, and Hellenic Federation of Hoteliers President Yiannis Hatzis.
