The Greek Islands are listed as a top 2025 year-round destination for American travelers, according to the 2025 Travel Forecast by the vacation rental company HomeToGo.

Through the forecast, HomeToGo is revealing five travel trends predicted for the year ahead. Based on a depth of survey and search data, 2025 will be a year defined by extended, immersive getaways and loved-up couples’ trips, with price and climate commanding a surge in shoulder season escapes.

Figures reveal that Rhodes Island in the Dodecanese ranks as the sixth top-trending international destination for spring/summer 2025, while the Greek Islands overall are the fifth best destination for autumn and winter.

According to the forecast, searches for Rhodes increased by 235 percent for the year coming surpassing Ibiza, Spain; Berlin, Germany; Rovaniemi, Finland; and Ko Lanta, Thailand. Meanwhile, search for the Greek Islands rose by 268 percent over Playa del Carmen and Puerto Vallarta in Mexico; Bali, Indonesia; Rome, Italy; and Isla de Lanzarote, Spain.

Five key travel trends for 2025

The survey also highlighted five key travel trends for 2025 that will shape the market:

Epic escapes: HomeToGo’s recent survey of 800 Americans revealed that 27 percent of U.S. travelers are gearing up for longer, more extravagant vacations in 2025, compared to 2024.

Thrifty trips: Price will be the top priority for 36 percent of all travelers in 2025, with vacationers across generations eager to make their money go even further.

Experiential adventures: HomeToGo’s 2025 travel survey revealed that, 21 percent view a place’s experiential offering as the most important element when choosing a destination. This shift pushes more traditional concerns like weather further down the list, with only 17 percent of trip planners now considering clear skies to be their top priority.

Bae-cations across the ages: Whether it’s for honeymoons, anniversaries, or simply romantic rendezvouses, couples are making travel a two-person affair: 50 percent of respondents in HomeToGo’s travel survey plan to jet off with their partner in 2025.

Delaycations: Travelers are expected to expand beyond typical summer season stays, with 45 percent of respondents planning off-peak getaways to avoid the crowds and stretch their budgets.

Survey insights are based on research conducted by HomeToGo among a sample of 800 respondents in the United States. The survey was carried out online between September 3, 2024 – September 5, 2024.
