A fun travel show, “High Road, Low Road” pairs top celebrities and sends them to – initially – undisclosed but popular holiday spots, city break favorites, and distant destinations. Once they discover their destination, they choose between two envelopes: one offering a luxurious experience and the other a more budget-friendly trip, both to the same location. Airing on Ireland’s national television, the show highlights diverse accommodation, entertainment, and activity options within each destination, showcasing how experiences can vary based on budget. Last season, it drew over 350,000 viewers per episode. From October 20 to 23, Irish celebrities and the show’s eight-member production team explored Thessaloniki’s gastronomy, landscapes, and spa offerings, accompanied by Kyriaki Oudatzi, a representative of the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization (TTO), which promotes the city to an international audience. During their stay, celebrities indulged in local gastronomy, enjoyed a beachside bike ride, sailed in Thermaikos Gulf, and relaxed at the thermal spa in Lagadas Baths. They also explored beekeeping in Nea Raidestos, joined a cooking class, and tasted the region’s rich olive oil and wine productions. Their experiences will be featured in a tribute episode for Thessaloniki, scheduled to air in January 2025. The TTO noted that the Irish guests expressed gratitude for the excellent organization and shared positive impressions of their visit to Thessaloniki and the surrounding region.
