Beginning November 1, Lines 2 and 3 of the Athens Metro will extend their Friday and Saturday night service until 2 o’clock in the morning.

These new operating hours, part of the new transportation strategy of the Region of Attica, reflect the Greek Ministry of Infrastructure and Transportation’s commitment to enhancing public transportation systems, aiming to create cities that are more accommodating for residents and visitors.

“We hope the extension of metro hours every Friday and Saturday night will meet the transportation needs of citizens, especially young people and visitors to our capital,” said Greek Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Staikouras.

According to Staikouras, the ministry is working alongside transport entities, such as Urban Rail Transport S.A. (STASY), to improve services for the public.

Nighttime schedule on Fridays and Saturdays

On weekend nights, the last metro train will depart from the metro station at Syntagma Square in all directions at 02:00 and will arrive at terminal stations as follows:

– D. Plakentias: 02:20
– Dimotiko Theatro: 02:22
– Anthoupoli: 02:14
– Elliniko: 02:17

Additionally, the last metro trains will leave the following terminals on Friday and Saturday nights at these times:

– D. Plakentias: 01:38
– Dimotiko Theatro: 01:34
– Anthoupoli: 01:43
– Elliniko: 01:40

On his part, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transportation Vassilis Economou noted the importance of this initiative.

“We recognize how parents worry about their children returning home safely after a night out. By extending the Metro’s nighttime schedule, we are addressing the needs of our youth.”

Economou added that the decision is part of the government’s commitment to continuously improve public transport and adapt it to the demands of modern urban life, while also enhancing citizens’ sense of safety.

The tables with the last train crossings from each station are posted on the website of STASY at www.stasy.gr.
