Established by Recommend, a leading US magazine for travelers and tourism experts, the awards are presented annually to travel organizations recognized for their excellence and contributions to the industry. Award results are based on readers’ votes, highlighting their top choices in destinations, hotels, tour operators, cruise lines, rail vacations, car rentals, airlines, travel insurance providers, and more. Once again since 2021, Greece was celebrated as the second-best overall destination in Europe, recognized as a popular choice in the U.S. market. Italy took the top spot, winning the gold accolade as Europe’s Best Overall Destination, with Spain placing third. Greece: A sought-after destination Photo source: GNTO The Greek National Tourism Organization’s (GNTO) participation in the IMEX America 2024 International Conference and Tourism Exhibition further confirmed the rising interest in Greece within the American travel market. The exhibition is a premier event for the American tourism industry, drawing hotel groups, event technology providers, convention bureaus, airlines, event management agencies, and more. This year, 5,758 buyers from 75 countries participated, holding approximately 85,000 one-on-one meetings. From October 8 to 10, the North America office of the Greek tourism board participated in the exhibition alongside 11 co-exhibitors from Greece. Konstantinos Charokopos, Head of the GNTO’s office, and Yiannis Plexousakis, Deputy Director and Greek representative, held B2B meetings with American MICE executives and suppliers, affirming Greece’s appeal as one of the fastest-growing destinations for MICE and luxury travel.
