The Authentic”, draws near, taking place on November 9 and 10, the center of Athens will undergo several transport and traffic adjustments to accommodate the large influx of participants and spectators. These changes are essential to ensure smooth operations during one of the city’s most celebrated athletic events. Public transport changes Urban Rail Transport (STASY) has announced that subway and metro services will be increased on both Saturday, November 9, from 2:00pm to 7:00pm, and Sunday, November 10, from 7:00 AM until the completion of the 42km marathon. Two additional trains will run on each of the three metro lines during these times. In addition, on Sunday, November 10, metro lines 2 and 3 will begin operating at 5:00am, which is half an hour earlier than usual, while line 1 will also begin its service at 5:00am. By order of the Hellenic Police, the “Pikrodafni – Syntagma” tram line will be terminated at the “Fix” stop on Syggrou Avenue from 2:00pm on November 9 until 8:30pm on November 10. On Saturday, November 9, two consecutive 5km races will take place from Amalias Avenue in Syntagma Squar towards the Panathenaic Stadium (Kallimarmaro), between 5:00pm and 8:25pm. Streets affected include Vasilissis Amalias, Panepistimiou, Riga Feraiou, Akadimias, Vasilissis Sofias, Mesoghion, Irodou Attikou, and the area surrounding the Kallimarmaro. On Sunday, November 10, from 9:00am to 5:45pm, the marathon route will span Mesoghion Avenue, Michalakopoulou, Vasilissis Sofias, and Irodou Attikou, finishing at the Panathenaic Stadium. From 8:15am to 10:20am, a 10km race will run from Syntagma Square to the Kallimarmaro Stadium, passing through Vasilissis Amalias, Panepistimiou, Trikoupi, Akadimias, Vasilissis Sofias, Fidippidou, Mesogeion Avenue, Michalakopoulou, and Irodou Attikou. Additionally, a 1.2km children’s race will take place from 10:30am to 10:37am, running along Vasilissis Sofias and Irodou Attikou, finishing at the Kallimarmaro Stadium. Irodou Attikou, along with its cross streets, and Vasileos Georgiou B between Rigillis and Irodou Attikou, will remain closed to traffic until the races conclude.
