Experience the dream cruise in the Aegean with Celestyal Cruises“, the feature captures the best moments from the journey of author and certified wine connoisseur Saiki Manami and photographer Hiroaki Tamura throughout Greece. As part of the 2024 Greece-Japan Year of Culture and Tourism, the Greek Embassy in Tokyo partnered with the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) to showcase the autumn landscapes of Athens, Thessaloniki, Santorini, Mykonos, Crete, and Milos to Japanese travelers, aiming to strengthen bilateral relations through tourism with Japan. Aegean Sea: The “Mecca” of cruising During their journey across Greece, Japanese guests sampled the finest of the country’s wine production while traveling the seas from Attica to Macedonia and Crete. “The Aegean Sea is known worldwide as the Mecca of cruising,” Saiki Manami writes. “The Aegean Islands, with their Mediterranean climate, provide ideal conditions for grape cultivation, thanks to abundant sunlight and fertile soil.” Photo source: GNTO Manami and Tamura visited several local wineries, savoring the unique varieties from each region and gaining memorable, themed tourism experiences, which they showcased in the feature along with stunning photographs. Cruise magazine, published three times a year, is one of Japan’s leading cruise publications, with a 34-year history. Its readership primarily includes experienced cruise enthusiasts, industry professionals, and businesspeople aged 40 to 70, many of whom are affluent and favor cruise tourism, particularly in Europe.
