The Greek Tourism Ministry will aim to enhance the global appeal of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival while promoting cultural tourism.

In a recent meeting with festival officials, Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni discussed expanding their successful strategic collaboration, with a goal to further elevate the festival’s international profile and strengthen the “brand name” of Thessaloniki both within Greece and abroad.

Minister Kefalogianni met with the festival’s General Director Eliz Salado and Artistic Director Orestis Andreadakis, where they agreed to intensify efforts to promote the festival globally and attract more tourists interested in experiences involving culture and cinema.

She stressed the significant role the festival plays, not just for its international recognition in the film industry, but also as a major driver of Thessaloniki’s local economy and tourism sector.

Minister Kefalogianni emphasized that the festival not only boosts the city’s international reputation but also creates employment opportunities and generates economic benefits.

Thousands of visitors, both from Greece and abroad, attend the event every year, experiencing the diverse identity of Greece’s second-largest city.
