Residents and visitors can enjoy music, art, fitness activities, woodworking, comics, literature, workshops, health tests and first aid sessions, all in the city’s most alternative neighborhood. Organized by the Athens Municipality, the events aim to entertain children and adults through recreational activities that emphasize the role of art in everyday life. Photo source: Athens Municipality Among the highlights are: AFROfitness, November 18, and 25, 7pm to 8.3pm: The market will host the Bantu Dancers, who will introduce visitors to the vibrant world of AFROfitness, a dynamic fitness style that blends the intensity and duration of traditional African dance with modern moves, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a lively party. Together We Paw, November 16, 12pm to 9pm: The non-profit organization Dogs’ Voice is hosting a grand celebration of hospitality and adoption for anyone looking to welcome a new furry friend into their life. Art Therapy Workshops, November 19, and 26, 6pm to 8pm: By engaging in activities like finger painting, crafting ceramic totems, story writing, and self-portrait exploration, participants find new ways to connect with their memories, senses, and inner world. If you pass by the Kypseli Municipal Market, take a test! November 18, 11am to 6pm: Free, rapid tests for HIV and hepatitis B & C will be offered in partnership with the Checkpoint Prevention & Sexual Health Center. Staff from Athens Checkpoint will be stationed at Creative Lab 2, providing tests and educating the public on sexual health with the support of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation.
