Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is actively pursuing plans to expand its presence in Greece, according to Dimitris Manikis, President for Europe, the Middle East, Eurasia, and Africa. On the occasion of Wyndham’s participation in the Resort & Residential Hospitality Forum (R&R) 2024, currently held in Greece, Manikis emphasized the group’s commitment to enhancing its footprint in both high-traffic tourism destinations and emerging markets across the country. As part of this strategy, according to Manikis, Wyndham is set to announce at least one new partnership by the end of the year, focusing on the Attica region. Currently, Wyndham operates 13 properties across Greece, including three in Athens, two in Loutraki, and one each in Vravrona, Nea Makri, Thessaloniki, Halkidiki, Alexandroupoli, Corfu, Rhodes, and Crete. New properties on the horizon The company has signed two new agreements this year, both marking significant additions to its Greek portfolio. The first project, in partnership with DKG Development Group, will establish Wyndham Residences Piraeus Marina Zeas, featuring 72 luxury serviced apartments with waterfront views. This upscale property, situated near Marina Zeas, will include amenities such as a restaurant, gym, spa, and event spaces, and is slated to open in December 2025. The second development, in collaboration with Oikos Property Developments, will bring the first Ramada Residences by Wyndham to Greece, located in the the Municipality of Aristotle in Halkidiki, northern Greece,. Growth supported by strong tourism performance Manikis praised Greece’s robust tourism growth, noting that the country welcomed 36 million international visitors in 2023, with arrivals expected to surpass 37 million in 2024. Wyndham’s loyalty program, Wyndham Rewards, has also seen impressive growth, now boasting 112 million members worldwide—almost three times the annual tourist arrivals to Greece. He highlighted this as a testament to the strength of Wyndham’s partnerships in the country, with the company adding 15 million new loyalty members in just two years.
