The Region of Thessaly recently strengthened its partnership with the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) to enhance the region’s tourism appeal.

Regional officials met with GNTO Secretary General Andreas Fiorentinos in Athens to discuss destination promotion globally, focusing on improving infrastructure, developing new tourism strategies, and highlighting alternative tourism options.

“Collaborating with GNTO marks a significant step toward these goals, with the meeting’s outcomes expected to boost the region’s tourism dynamics, introduce new visitor experiences, and enrich Greece’s overall tourism offering,” officials said.

Key topics at the meeting

Meteora, Thessaly.

The agenda centered on the strategic partnership between the Thessaly Region and the GNTO, with discussions covering:

– Developments at Volos/Nea Anchialos Airport, including new flights scheduled for 2025

– Targeted promotion of Thessaly in international tourism markets

– Participation in major international tourism exhibitions and niche events catering to specific audiences

– Introducing new tourism products to Greece’s broader portfolio, emphasizing thematic tourism experiences.

To achieve these objectives, Andreas Fiorentinos proposed a follow-up meeting in Thessaly to engage directly with local stakeholders and assess tourism infrastructure.
