Starting early next year, AEGEAN will connect Athens to Iraq, with direct flights from Athens International Airport (AIA) to Erbil International Airport launching on February 23, 2025. These flights will operate twice a week, every Wednesday and Sunday. Shortly after, on April 14, 2025, AEGEAN will resume direct flights from Athens to Azerbaijan. These flights will operate every Monday and Friday, using the airline’s Airbus A320neo aircraft. In addition to international destinations, AEGEAN is expanding its domestic network. Four new direct routes will be introduced from Heraklion (Crete) to Rhodes, Naxos, Corfu, and Kos. Flights between Heraklion and Rhodes will operate daily, with the first flight scheduled for March 2025. Starting in June 2025, direct flights from Heraklion to Kos (three times a week), Naxos (twice a week), and Corfu (twice a week) will also commence. Moreover, AEGEAN will introduce two new domestic routes from Rhodes: direct flights to Chania (Crete) and Santorini, starting in early June 2025. Flights from Rhodes to Chania will operate twice a week, increasing to four times a week during the peak season, and flights to Santorini will run three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Starting in June 2025, AEGEAN will also offer direct flights from Thessaloniki to Syros, operating three times a week (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday). From Athens, the airline now operates four daily flights to Istanbul and five weekly flights to Izmir. Furthermore, new direct connections between Istanbul and several Greek islands — Heraklion, Mykonos, Rhodes, and Santorini — will be introduced in the summer of 2025. From April 2025, Heraklion and Santorini will be connected to Istanbul with two weekly flights, increasing to four during the peak season. Mykonos and Rhodes will also see new direct flights to Istanbul starting in June, with two weekly flights on each route. Since the beginning of 2024, AEGEAN has been operating four daily flights to London Heathrow, and has reported increased flight frequencies and seat capacity in the Balkans, particularly to Tirana and Sofia. The airline is also expanding operations in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, with a new direct connection between Athens and Abu Dhabi. In addition to its new routes, AEGEAN is increasing service to traditional European markets for Greek travelers, including Berlin, Barcelona, Madrid, and Lisbon. As previously announced, AEGEAN’s new direct flights from Athens to Las Palmas will begin on February 13, and from June, Heraklion will have direct flights to Metz, France.
