In response to the devastating wildfires that ravaged Rhodes in the summer of 2023, the H Hotels Collection Group has funded a study aimed at reforesting the island’s affected areas.

The study, which focuses on the region surrounding the Gadouras Dam, proposes a reforestation plan for 1,606 acres of land.

The H Hotels Collection collaborated with the Common Nature organization and Assistant Professor Athanasios Stamboulidis from the Athens Agricultural University to conduct the study.

The findings were unveiled at an event in Rhodes attended by local officials, representatives of the Rhodes Hotel Association, and the Association of Travel Agents Dodecanese (ATAD).

The study’s key objectives include mitigating soil erosion caused by extreme weather events and protecting the dam’s reservoir and surrounding area from further environmental damage.

“Through our collaboration with Common Nature and Professor Athanasios Stamboulidis, we aim to ensure the long-term protection of the area while enhancing the local community’s resilience to climate change. This initiative showcases our commitment to sustainability and environmental protection,” stated Ioannis Hatzilazarou, President and CEO of H Hotels Collection.

This project reflects the group’s broader commitment to sustainability, focusing on environmental conservation and supporting the local community. It also aims to enhance Rhodes’ appeal as a tourism destination, preserving the island’s natural beauty and cultural heritage while contributing to its long-term sustainability.

Founded in 1993, the H Hotels Collection operates seven properties in Rhodes and one in Athens, offering guests an authentic Greek hospitality experience with exceptional service and attention to detail.
