Executives from two travel agencies and a journalist from Serbia recently had the opportunity to explore the key attractions, unique thematic experiences, and outstanding tourism infrastructure of Western Macedonia.

The familiarization (fam) trip, organized in early December by the Serbian branch of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), provided these professionals with an in-depth look at the region’s exceptional tourism offerings.

This trip is part of the GNTO Serbia’s strategy to highlight and promote lesser-known Greek destinations, as well as the authentic experiences they offer.

During their visit, Uros Simsic, Sales Manager of TO Plana Tours; Aleksandra Blazevic, Journalist at ona.telegraf.rs; and Lidija Stankovic, Owner of TO Aerop Turs, toured several destinations in Western Macedonia, including Velventos, Kastoria, Siatista, the national park in Prespes, Psarades, Florina, Nymfeo, and Amyntaio. They also had the opportunity to experience local attractions, such as cave tours, visits to wineries, and sampling traditional regional cuisine.

In addition, the visitors met with local officials and business representatives to gain insights into the region’s tourism infrastructure and services.

The fam trip was organized in collaboration with the Region of Western Macedonia, following a successful event in Belgrade in October, where wines from northern Greece were introduced to the Serbian market.
