The GNTO’s branch in Germany hosted a special event showcasing lesser-known Greek destinations to leading German tourism professionals, airlines, tour operators, and journalists, highlighting their rich tourism identity and commitment to sustainability. In his opening remarks, Consul General of Greece in Frankfurt Dimitris Dochtsis highlighted Greece’s strengths as a destination for experience-based tourism. This was further emphasized by the Head of GNTO Germany Nikoleta Lekanidi, who outlined the organization’s initiatives to promote Greece in the German market. The spotlight then shifted to the representatives of Lesvos, who highlighted the island’s rich gastronomy, unique products, and historical heritage. Photo source: GNTO These are complemented by signature products such as olive oil, sardines, and ouzo (a Greek traditional alcoholic beverage), as highlighted by Lesvos Distillers President Dimitris Spetzas. Paired with the island’s remarkable geomorphology, which geologist Elias Valiakos emphasized as a key feature, Lesvos has earned the title of a “Monument of Nature” and is included in the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network. On the sidelines of the event, guests enjoyed a selection of the finest delicacies from both destinations, paired with exceptional wines that showcased their rich gastronomy traditions.
