In the days leading up to Christmas, AEGEAN and Olympic Air volunteers, known as the “AEGEAN Santa Crew”, brought holiday joy to schools and families in remote areas of Greece. The volunteers visited schools on Karpathos, Kasos, Ikaria, Skyros, and Kastellorizo, offering gifts and spreading festive cheer to children and local communities. For the fourth consecutive year, AEGEAN’s voluntary team, the “AEGEAN Santa Crew,” shared the Christmas spirit by visiting remote islands and supporting families in need in Athens. The initiative aims to bring smiles to students in underserved areas and assist those facing hardship. On December 19, AEGEAN and Olympic Air volunteers, including pilots and cabin crew, traveled early in the morning on three flights to Karpathos, Kasos, Ikaria, Skyros, and Kastellorizo. They delivered gifts to students and supported local schools by providing much-needed supplies, such as heating oil, literary books, STEM kits, and other educational resources. The airline staff also took time to interact with the children, discussing their profession and aviation, answering questions, and offering the young students the opportunity to explore the aircraft. Earlier in the same week, the “AEGEAN Santa Crew” visited the Reception and Solidarity Center of the Municipality of Athens (K.Y.A.D.A.) and the Multi-purpose Homeless Center to distribute Christmas treats to 300 families in need and 200 individuals experiencing homelessness, sharing moments of warmth and compassion. “For 25 years, AEGEAN has been committed to supporting local communities, children, and those in need, thanks to the trust of our passengers and the dedication of our people,” said AEGEAN Corporate Affairs Manager Marina Spyridaki.
