Athens’ public transport system will soon benefit from 100 new electric buses, according to a recent announcement by the Ministry of Transport.

In addition, the first 27 articulated natural gas buses are expected to join the city’s eco-friendly fleet, representing another key step toward modernizing urban transportation. Together with the 278 new vehicles already in operation across Attica, these additions bring the total number of new buses to over 400, significantly enhancing the region’s public transport capacity.

“The fleet modernization is progressing steadily and methodically. Our target is to have 950 new buses in Attica by the summer of 2025,” stated Transport Minister Christos Staikouras during his visit to the O.SY. bus hub.
