In the Spanish edition of the magazine, Editor Josep M. Palau describes Samos as a “crossroads of Europe and Asia”, highlighting its rich history, lush landscapes, and authenticity. Traveling through Vathi, Karlovasi, Mount Kerkis and Pythagoreum, Palau explored cobblestone streets, Byzantine churches, serene beaches, and mountain paths showcasing Samos’ charm. Palau praised key attractions like the Archaeological Museum of Samos, renowned for its colossal kouros statue, and historic sites like the Heraion sanctuary and the Evpalinos Tunnel, marvels that reflect the island’s ancient Greek and Byzantine heritage. A commitment to authentic tourism Speaking to the Athens News Agency, East Samos Mayor Paraskevas Papageorgiou described the island as an “oasis” of authenticity untouched by overtourism. While commenting on National Geographic’s tribute he highlighted that Samos’ blend of forests, historical monuments, and genuine hospitality positions it as an international destination promoting wellbeing.
