Destinations news Thessaloniki Hotels Association Celebrates 110 Years of Promoting Hospitality by GTP editing team 30 December 2024 written by GTP editing team 30 December 2024 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 26 The Thessaloniki Hotels Association (THA) recently celebrated its 110th anniversary with a ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Thessaloniki hotel, honoring its century-long contribution to the city’s tourism development. “With a legacy spanning 110 years, the Thessaloniki Hotels Association continues to support the region’s growth and serve its founding mission with dedication,” said THA President Andreas Mandrinos. As Greece’s oldest hotel association, established in December 1914, THA’s mission is to support the economic, social, and professional interests of its members while enhancing Thessaloniki’s appeal as a tourism destination. It collaborates with local and regional authorities to foster sustainable tourism development in the area. THA’s past presidents honored Andreas Mandrinos with former president of the Thessaloniki Hotels Association, Aristotelis Thomopoulos. The event paid tribute to past presidents of the last five decades, including the late Ioannis Tsalouchidis, Dimitrios Christopoulos, and Vasilios Brovas, alongside Aristotelis Thomopoulos for their significant contributions to the association. Stelios AggeloudisVicky Hatzivasileiou Speeches from Thessaloniki Mayor Stelios Aggeloudis, Tourism Ministry Secretary General Vassia Koutsoukou, Thessaloniki Vice-Regional Governor for Tourism Vicky Hatzivasileiou, and the coordinator of the Prime Minister’s Macedonia office Giannis Papageorgiou, underscored THA’s pivotal role in the tourism growth of Thessaloniki. With local hoteliers and tourism professionals in attendance, THA members celebrated the association’s century-long journey and its significant contribution to Thessaloniki’s tourism development. Today, THA represents 85 member hotels, accounting for 65 percent of hotels and 80 percent of the hotel beds in Thessaloniki and the surrounding region.
