SKY express has further enhanced Greece’s connectivity to the Caucasus region by recently introducing a direct flight between Athens and Yerevan, the capital of Armenia.

The new route operates three times a week — on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays — using the airline’s state-of-the-art Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft. The addition is expected to strengthen tourism, business, and cultural ties between the two countries.

According to SKY express Chief Commercial Officer Gerasimos Skaltsas, the route responds to growing demand for travel to Yerevan. “Through this connection, we aim to deepen cultural and economic relations, inviting travelers from Armenia to explore Greece and, through Athens, access the largest domestic network we serve,” Skaltsas said. He also reaffirmed the airline’s commitment to enhancing passenger experiences with upgraded services.

The introduction of Yerevan to SKY express’s international network highlights the airline’s growing presence in strategic foreign markets.

To mark the launch, the first flight was recently welcomed at Yerevan’s Zvartnots International Airport by local officials and Greece’s Ambassador to Armenia, Christos Sofianopoulos.

Ambassador Sofianopoulos expressed optimism about the new route, stating that it would bring the two countries closer while positioning Athens and Yerevan as gateways to global destinations in Europe, Asia, and beyond.

Currently serving 22 international destinations, SKY express aims to offer travelers high-quality service while playing a pivotal role in bolstering Greek tourism and connecting Greece to the world.
