A new initiative by the Municipality of Athens offers residents and visitors the chance to explore the city’s rich history through guided walking tours of archaeological sites, museums, and picturesque neighborhoods.

Titled “Athenian Walks”, the initiative kicks off on Saturday, January 18, featuring guided tours of the Byzantine and Christian Museum, the National Glypthotheque, the National Gallery, the National Archaeological Museum, the Municipal Gallery of Athens, the Acropolis Museum, and the Numismatic Museum.

The Municipality of Athens, in partnership with the social benefit enterprise Action Plus, developed the Athenian Walks to cater to adults, children aged 7-10, and social groups facing cultural access barriers, aiming to promote inclusion and advance social and cultural equality.

Those interested in participating can press here to see the detailed program and make a reservation. Each tour has a specific participation limit, and priority is given on a first-come, first-served basis. It should be noted that the entrance ticket to the museums and archaeological sites is an additional cost for participants.

These tours are funded by the Attica 2021–2027 Program and form part of the initiative “Actions to Promote Sustainable Development and Social Cohesion through the Social and Solidarity Economy in the Municipality of Athens”.
