Through the ongoing partnership, Zela Aviation is aiming to enhance the operations of the domestic airport and position Sitia as a vital gateway to Lasithi regional unit. “We are delighted to continue collaboration and supporting to Sitia Airport and establish Sitia as a prominent destination on the map within Greece for domestic travel,” said Andreas Christodoulides, Chairman of Zela Aviation. Focus on domestic traffic Since the partnership began in 2022, Zela Aviation and Sitia Airport have worked together to boost passenger traffic, promote eastern Crete’s tourism potential, and establish the airport as a vital entry point for international visitors and now Zela Aviation in 2025 will focus more on the domestic traffic. Located in the eastern part of the island, Sitia Airport features a modern terminal and robust facilities capable of handling increased passenger traffic. With a runway length of 2,040 meters and the capacity to serve 900 passengers per hour, it is well-equipped to accommodate further growth. According to Zela Aviation, the third year of the partnership reinforces both parties’ commitment to enhancing visibility, driving tourism, and building sustainable growth for the airport and the surrounding region. Sitia is celebrated for its unspoiled landscapes, the iconic Vai Palm Forest, and its close proximity to popular tourist destinations like Agios Nikolaos and Elounda.
