Photo source: Thira Municipality The picturesque sunsets of Santorini and Mykonos won a place among the world’s 25 most beautiful, according to new research by AllClear travel insurance firm. To determine the world’s top locations with the best weather conditions for vivid sunsets, the company analyzed historical weather data from over 100 renowned sunset spots. They scored each destination using the mentioned metrics and considered social media popularity as an additional factor. Scores were then normalized and weighed based on their influence on sunset quality, resulting in a final sunset score out of 100, with 100 representing the highest possible score. Ranked 21st, Oia on Santorini holds one of the world’s most beautiful sunsets, scoring 59.1 out of 100 as its vibrant hues disappear into the Caldera’s Sea at dusk. Nearby, Mykonos Town also made the list, securing the 23rd position with a score of 58.4 out of 100. Known as the world’s hot air balloon capital, Cappadocia in Türkiye is the best place in the world to enjoy a sunset, offering tourists over 200 days of flyable weather each year, with many specifically visiting the area to take to the skies. The list also includes Waikiki Beach in Hawaii, the Grand Canyon National Park, Uluru, the Grand Teton National Park, the Taj Mahal, Piazzale Michelangelo, Ipanema Beach, Haleakalā Summit and Arthur’s Seat. “Whether you’re chasing sunsets across volcanic craters or relaxing on a tropical beach with a drink in hand, we hope you see some spectacular shows in the sky next time you travel abroad,” AllClear experts wish travelers.
