According to the Municipality of Poros, the project, part of the NextGenerationEU initiative, aims to enhance the port’s operational capacity, improve sustainability, and elevate the overall experience for visitors to the island. The primary focus of the upgrade includes improvements to the port’s energy infrastructure, digital technology, environmental sustainability, operational management, and user services. Specific enhancements will include the following: Energy and Infrastructure Improvements: – Installation of floating docks to expand the port’s capacity. – Provision of water and energy supply pillars. – Integration of photovoltaic panels for renewable energy production through new sheds. – Upgrading the electrical power supply to increase capacity. – Installation of underwater lighting to enhance safety and aesthetics. Digital Technologies and Connectivity: – Establishment of a Data Management Center and systems for data storage and retrieval. – Deployment of both wired and wireless communication systems for better connectivity. – Implementation of advanced port management software, including tools for docking space reservations and infrastructure management. – Installation of a digital signage system and dynamic information displays. Operational Management and Environmental Sustainability: – Registration and monitoring of the port’s carbon footprint and energy consumption. – Automatic collection of solid waste from floating sources to maintain cleanliness. – Implementation of a Quality Management System to optimize operations. Service and Safety Enhancements: – Upgrades to accessibility infrastructure in line with legal requirements. – Provision of defibrillators to enhance safety. – Introduction of an electric service boat equipped with a charging system. – Installation of automated public toilets and showers for improved facilities.
