The guide highlights Mediterranean islands with crystal-clear waters, charming countryside villages adorned with fields of flowers, and ancient cities with fewer tourists—catering to every type of traveler. “April means wild garlic in Scotland, fresh strawberries in Spain, and dreamy seafood in Greece,” says the editor, urging readers to embrace spring’s sunny days while exploring Europe’s hidden gems. Andros: A ‘dreamy escape’ in April Tis grias to pidima, one of Andros beaches. Andros stands out as the top European destination this April, with temperatures ranging from 15 to 20 degrees Celsius and up to 13 hours of sunshine. “Andros is number 1 on this list,” the editor underlines. “Andros isn’t like the tourist-packed Greek islands you hear about – it’s a little quieter, a little greener, and absolutely dreamy in April.” Visitors can enjoy nature with scenic hikes through lush valleys, past waterfalls, and up to breathtaking viewpoints. Afterward, they can relax on unspoiled beaches and take a refreshing dip in crystal-clear waters. Chora, Andros’ main town, offers a blend of charming, whitewashed buildings, cozy cafés, and fascinating museums. The seaside town of Batsi is also a must-visit spot. For food lovers, the island’s local almond desserts (kaltsounia) are a treat, along with traditional cheeses and a fresh Greek salad. With Greek Easter falling on April 20, the island offers a unique chance to experience rich religious traditions, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere around one of Orthodoxy’s most significant celebrations. Other notable destinations in the Wanderlicious guide The rest of the Wanderlicious guide includes several other top European destinations such as the Belgian city of Dinant, Rothenburg ob der Tauber in Germany, Vienna, Venice, Tenerife, Florence, the Cotswolds in England, Warsaw, Dubrovnik, Bruges, Paris, Capri, Strasbourg, and Iceland.
