The Greek Ministry of Infrastructure and Transportation has unveiled plans to upgrade Line 1 of the Athens Metro, with full operation expected by the end of 2026. Known as the ISAP electric railway, Line 1 is the oldest of the three metro lines, connecting Kifissia to Piraeus. The upgrade project includes the renovation of 14 trains, which aims to enhance service efficiency and reduce travel times. Transport Minister Christos Staikouras, during his visit to the construction site in Volos, was informed that the prototype wagon is ready in Spain, with the remaining wagons currently under construction and refurbishment. Line 4 (Section A) will introduce 15 new underground stations, including Alsos Veikou, Galatsi, Elikonos, Kypseli, Dikastiria, Alexandras, Exarchia, Akadimias, Kolonaki, Evangelismos, Kaisariani, Panepistimioupoli, Ilissia, Zografou, and Goudi.
