Early bookings from Austrian travelers to the Ionian Islands are on the rise for 2025, with Corfu leading the trend with a 23 percent increase compared to 2024.

The data was released by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), following feedback from tour operators during its participation in the Ferien Messe 2025 travel exhibition in Vienna. Approximately 100,000 Austrian travelers visited the Ionian Islands in 2024, according to the same source.

Building on these positive trends, the Ionian Islands Region attended the exhibition, where it showcased the islands’ unique attractions. From January 16 to 19, the region’s pavilion attracted travelers of all ages, along with significant interest from media and tourism professionals.

To further strengthen its appeal, local authorities and the GNTO’s Austrian branch have agreed to invite Austrian journalists and media representatives to explore the Ionian Islands firsthand.

Ferien-Messe Wien is one of Central Europe’s largest travel fairs, serving as a key meeting point for tourism professionals to showcase trends and address industry challenges. The 2025 event featured 450 exhibitors from 36 countries and attracted approximately 75,000 visitors.
