Event Awards 2025: AFEA Congress Wins Silver in Sports Events Category

Athens-based AFEA Congress, a Greek exhibition, congress and event organizer, has been recognized with the Silver Award in the Sports Events Category at the prestigious Event Awards 2025.

The accolade honored its pivotal role as the Local Event Partner of the FIRST Global Challenge (FGC) 2024, a joint initiative of the FIRST Global, Mellon LAB, and the Ministry of Digital Governance.

During the award ceremony on January 24 in Athens, Sissy Lygnou, CEO of AFEA Congress and President of HAPCO & DES, received the award alongside Mellon Lab and Digital Governance Deputy Minister Konstantinos Kyranakis.

The FIRST Global Challenge 2024, held at the Peace and Friendship Stadium in Athens from September 26 to 29, 2024, was an extraordinary gathering that united participants from 193 countries under the theme “Feeding the Future”.

This landmark initiative showcased the ingenuity of young minds working to address critical challenges in food systems, energy, and water using robotics and technology. The event was a true testament to the power of innovation and global collaboration in tackling pressing world issues.

With presence in Athens and Thessaloniki, AFEA Congress specializes in organizing congresses, meetings, corporate group travel, and incentive programs, tailoring each event to meet clients’ specific needs.

The Event Awards, organized by Boussias Events, have been a significant event in Athens for the past nine years, celebrating excellence in event management across Greece. A panel of 50 experts from fields including marketing, advertising, public relations, and event management selected the winners.
