Its innovative Social Hackathon “The Odyssey of Water” impressed the awards committee, showcasing the company’s dedication to organizing international scientific conferences that advance knowledge and tackle pressing societal and environmental challenges. “Winning this award underscores CONVIN’s mission to ensuring that every congress we organize not only facilitates knowledge exchange but also leaves a lasting positive impact on society, the environment, and the economy,” stated Antonia Alexandrou, CONVIN Managing Director. A groundbreaking social hackathon “The Odyssey of Water” was held as a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity during the IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS 2024), under the presidency of Dr. Haris Kontoes and Professor Vito Pascazio, with AdMore responsible for the project’s design and implementation. “CONVIN’s approach reflects a strong commitment to sustainability and innovation,” said the company’s management, adding that it demonstrates how scientific congresses can advance societal progress through collaborative efforts between global scientists and young advocates. Aligned with the conference’s central theme “Acting for Sustainability and Resilience”, the social hackathon aimed to raise awareness about water scarcity, demonstrating how a highly scientific conference can effectively address critical social issues such as sustainable water management. More than 1,000 volunteers, including 300 scientists from 38 countries and 750 Greek middle school students, collaborated on a creative mission to tackle the crucial challenge of sustainable water resource management. According to the company, these spots will be broadcast in Greece and internationally, extending the message of sustainability well beyond the symposium. “This award is a testament to our role in shaping the future of congresses and inspiring collective action for a sustainable planet,” Alexandrou added. Organized by Boussias Events, the Event Awards have been a key event in Athens for the past nine years, recognizing excellence in event management across Greece.
