The 2025 cruise season at the port of Thessaloniki officially began on February 4 with the arrival of Celebrity Cruises’ “Infinity” ship. This marks the second consecutive year that the port has opened its cruise season in early February.

According to the Thessaloniki Port Authority (ThPA), the Celebrity Infinity arrived with a full complement of passengers and will stay overnight before departing on February 5.

Upon arrival, the first cruise visitors were greeted by representatives from ThPA, along with officials from the Region of Central Macedonia and the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization (TTO). The delegation welcomed the passengers with local delicacies and provided informative materials showcasing the city’s unique attractions.

For the third consecutive year, Thessaloniki is included in Celebrity Cruises’ itineraries. The Celebrity Infinity is set to visit Thessaloniki 21 times throughout 2025, with eight overnight stays planned. This provides passengers and crew ample opportunity to explore the city’s multicultural heritage, gastronomy, and vibrant tourism offerings.

Among the anticipated arrivals, the newly built Star ship from Viking Cruises is set to make its first visit on February 6. Other notable newcomers include Astoria Grande, Emerald Cruises, and Ritz-Carlton, with their maiden voyages to Thessaloniki also scheduled for 2025.

ThPA’s Executive Chairman, Athanasios Liagkos, highlighted the ongoing improvement of port services and infrastructure as a key factor in attracting cruise companies. “The continuous enhancement of ThPA’s facilities strengthens the confidence of cruise operators, positioning Thessaloniki and the wider region as an ideal cruise destination,” Liagkos said.

A key milestone for 2025 is the inclusion of Thessaloniki as a homeport for Crystal Cruises. The Crystal Symphony will embark on itineraries from Thessaloniki, reflecting the company’s commitment to providing exceptional experiences for its passengers.

“The Port of Thessaloniki offers a strategic advantage as a homeport, with direct access to global landmarks and the heart of a unique destination,” Liagkos added.
