Greek carrier Aegean Airlines applauded the European Commission’s decision that approves of its acquisition of rival Olympic Air.

The European Commission said that if approval had not be given to Aegean Airlines to buy Olympic Air, then the latter would have left the market completely.

Etihad Airways continued to achieve record growth in the third quarter of 2013, with revenue from passenger services exceeding US$1 billion for the first time and passenger numbers passing 3 million.
