The European Best Destinations website has nominated Athens, Greece, as one of the 20 candidates in the running for the title of the Best European Destination in 2016.

Promoting the wider Attica region as an ideal short break destination as well as bringing to the fore the unknown side of life on the outskirts of Athens and across the region, are among the priorities set by the Attica Region in its tourism promotion strategy for the next five years.
