A group of travel bloggers from Spain will visit Meteora on Sunday, August 23, to tour and see what the destination has to offer and then to write about their experience.

Excavation works under way in the bay of Kilada in the Argolic Gulf, Peloponnese, have revealed the remains of an underwater settlement dating back to the 3rd millennium BC.

“The issue of the control and management of the migration flow is a European problem, and exceeds the capabilities of a small island like Kos”, the island’s mayor, George Kyritsis, said in an announcement referring to the major influx of refugees from the Turkish coast.

As if the current economic crisis, the capital controls and the negative media portrayal of the country weren’t enough, Greek border islands, among them Kos, are having to also deal with a growing migrant problem at the peak of the tourism period.

The only shipload of people that is different, is the one rolling into Tinos’ harbour early in the morning of August 15. This is no ordinary day and these are not your usual tourists.

The Region of the South Aegean launched a new tourism campaign earlier this month – “Happening Now in South Aegean #greeksummer” – which aims to win back visitors for islands in the region.

Thirty people including experts, innovators and adventurous travel professionals from 15 countries gathered in Greece last month to exchange thoughts, learn and work on project ideas to promote the island of Ios and explore the destination’s sustainable future.

Mid-August is a great time for residents and visitors to be in Athens city center as it is less crowded, there are no traffic jams and it is more quiet than usual. This may just be the best time to go out and really explore Athens center and Attica!
