The Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) will soon sign a Memorandum Of Understanding with the Thessaloniki Hotels Association to redefine the Northern Greek city’s place in the global tourism market as an attractive all-year-round destination, according to the organization’s secretary general, Nikos Karachalios.

Despite the drop in incoming tourism to Greek destinations this year, Thessaloniki recorded small losses, vice-governor of Central Macedonia and deputy president of the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization, Apostolis Tzitzikostas, said Friday, 2 November.

“Turkish Airlines aims to promote all of Northern Greece,” the director of Turkish Airlines in Thessaloniki, Utku Yazan, said recently after holding talks with key tourism figures in Kozani, Northern Greece.

The unique name of “Greece” will be the tool to redefine the country in the global tourism market, Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni said on Wednesday, 31 October, during the presentation of the Greek National Tourism Organization’s (GNTO) new communication strategy for Greek tourism.
