Crete, Rodos and Lesvos will represent Greece at this year’s Reiselivsmessen travel trade exhibition at the Telenor Arena in Oslo, Norway. The trade show will take place 11-13 January.

The need to improve the environmental footprint of Greek tourism destinations through the closer cooperation of the country’s public and private organizations was called for by major tour operators at the first Conference on Green Tourism in Greece held in Stockholm, Sweden, on Thursday, 22 November.

“The 28th International Tourism Exhibition Philoxenia will play a key role in attracting more tourists to our country, even from new foreign markets, which, until now, were not familiar with the Greek tourism product,” President and CEO of HELEXPO, Paris Mavridis said yesterday, Tuesday, 20 November, at a press conference in Thessaloniki two days prior to the exhibition.

The Hellenic Chamber of Hotels will present its Greek Breakfast program this month at the 28th Philoxenia International Tourism Exhibition, organized 22-25 November in Thessaloniki (booth 15, ground floor/02).

The public-private marketing company for Greek tourism, Marketing Greece, will be financed exclusively by the private sector and is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2013, the president of the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (SETE), Andreas Andreadis, announced yesterday, 30 October, while opening the association’s 11th tourism and development conference “Marketing Greece, Promoting the quality side of Modern Greece.”

Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni requested for the European Commission’s support on tourism issues during a meeting with Antonio Tajani, Vice-President of the European Commission, responsible for Industry and Entrepreneurship, held today, 29 October, in Athens.
