Excavation works under way in the bay of Kilada in the Argolic Gulf, Peloponnese, have revealed the remains of an underwater settlement dating back to the 3rd millennium BC.

“The issue of the control and management of the migration flow is a European problem, and exceeds the capabilities of a small island like Kos”, the island’s mayor, George Kyritsis, said in an announcement referring to the major influx of refugees from the Turkish coast.

The culture ministry announced that it was moving ahead with measures for the protection of the Amphipolis excavation site in northern Greece, which a year ago had the world on edge as to the identity of the person buried there, many hoping it was the grave of Alexander the Great.
