The European Union (EU) aims to enhance coastal and maritime tourism in Europe, acknowledging the potential for growth and the generation of new job opportunities in the sector.

UNWTO Secretary General Taleb Rifai referred to the “tremendous turnaround” Greek tourism made in 2013, while speaking at the High-Level Conference On Coastal And Maritime Tourism held in Athens.

Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni spoke about the challenges and opportunities arising from coastal and maritime tourism for European Union countries at a High-Level Conference held on 10 March at the Acropolis Museum in Athens.
