Northern Greek Travel Agents Unite

More than 100 travel agents in Thessaloniki and the wider region of northern Greece united recently to form a cooperative as a way to expand on and improve services offered in the area.

The cooperative welcomes travel agents that have 18 or more years of experience in the sector.

Prospective members must possess an official travel agency permit issued by the Hellenic Tourism Organization and have their base of offices in northern Greece.

The cooperative’s main aim is to provide members with technical, technological and organizational support. Other possibilities include the purchase or rental of property that could be made available to members for professional purposes and the hire or purchase buses, planes, ships, hotels, camping grounds and the like.

The coop does not exclude other types of assistance, such as the possibility to offer loans and other financial assistance to agency members and to look into setting up branches in Greece and abroad. All members are required to contribute 150,000 drachmas each towards the cooperative’s pool of funds.
