The Riva Hotel in the Athens Illisia area is no more. In its place is the new luxury Stratos Vassilikos, an up-market hotel that is different from all the rest. Owner Airotel stripped down the Riva to its bare bones and constructed something different for the traveler.

A somewhat Italian style combined with floral design is prominent as well as the new friendly family-style reception area that reminds more of a lounge area than a reception hall. The hotel’s special lighting effects places a unique tone all the special designs of the unit. In all, a very unique city unit.

The new unit counts 71 standard rooms, five executive rooms, six junior suites, five master suites and the Grand Penthouse Suite. All rooms and open areas sport short ceilings, which tend to offer the guest a sense of calm. This feeling is strengthened with the hotel’s policy of fresh flowers at all times in every room.

Unlike the old Riva, the new unit pays extra special attention to its restaurant facilities. Within a uniquely designed area owners set up an unusually comforting eating area that boasts cuisine especially developed by the unit’s executive chef, all of which are ideal for business lunches and meetings.

Other special features include five conference rooms for anywhere from 10 to 340 delegates or event guests. There’s also a well-equipped gym, a sauna and a Jacuzzi. Next to the hotel is huge parking station suitable for hotel guests.

As a member of the Airotel group, guests have the more than 20 years of its hotel experience to depend on. Add this to ease of parking, a unit just outside the city’s prohibited driving circle and superb service and you have an ideal setting for the business or leisure traveler.

The 88-room unit boasts all the amenities found in any five-star hotel, such as its up-market “Riva” restaurant, complete with international cuisine. All rooms are equipped with interactive TV, internet access, mini bar, coffee & tea machines, safe, hairdryer and soundproof double windows.
