Destinations news Tender For Tae Kwon Do Venue Launched by GTP editing team 1 January 2011 written by GTP editing team 1 January 2011 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 62 The Culture and Tourism Ministry’s aim is to create an international conference center in the Tae Kwon Do facility and establish Athens as a potential destination for international conferences every month of the year, according to a press release of the ministry. Last month, the tender for the long-term lease of the venue that hosted the Tae Kwon Do competitions during the 2004 Olympic Games was launched. The tender also involves the venue’s surrounding area and focuses on the construction, maintenance, operation and management of the premises and facilities of the “Faliro Regeneration Zone III.” The transformation and operation of the Tae Kwon Do Olympic venue in Palio Faliro as a Metropolitan Conference Center for the Greek capital has been awaited by the tourism sector for years but was delayed due to problems in regards to the project’s initial tenders. According to the ministry, the transformation of the Tae Kwon Do venue into an international conference center would provide substantial economic benefits for Greece, such as increased foreign arrivals, new jobs and also strengthen the promotion and development of the country’s cultural heritage.
